David Archuleta Concert

Friday night, my friend Mary and I went to the David Archuleta concert. He did a really great job. Not very many vocalists nowadays are good live singers, but he didn't have any problems singing live. I think I would have enjoyed the concert a little better if I was feeling well, as Friday afternoon I came down with a cold, which has turned into a sinus infection. Anyway, here are some pictures from the concert.

We had really good seats. Unfortunately, so did the 14 year old fan girls in front of us. This was before the concert, and every time a stage crew person would walk on the stage, they would stand up in excitement. Just thought their enthusiasm was worth taking a picture of.

Halloween!

Last night, my roommates and I went to the school dance/carnival for Halloween. We all dressed up as characters from the magic school bus. Well, most of us did anyway. It was a lot of fun getting ready and the dance was alright....last years was definitely better. Anyway, Happy late Halloween!

Roommate Visit!

I'm so excited that this post has nothing to do with my job! Since I had the weekend off, I decided to go visit my roommate Corinne who lives in Burlington, WA. It was so great seeing her, since the last time I saw her was in April!

After a long drive in the car (I hit the wonderful Seattle traffic on my way up, making a two hour car ride into a four hour one...and this was after about three hours of sleep!) I finally got to her house Friday evening. Her parents and two of her brothers were on a pioneer trek with their stake, so she had spent the last couple of days babysitting her little sisters. I could tell she was a little tired, as she was in sweats when I got there! So I helped her control the little treasures Friday and Saturday until her parents got home Saturday evening.

Saturday night Corinne and I jumped in her car and drove to Bellingham to go to dinner at Corinne's favorite restaurant, Busahra, which was a Thai food restaurant. It was pretty good.

Sunday, I went with her to her single's ward and then on the way home we stopped at Padilla Bay and took some pictures.

It was so great getting to see her! Love ya lots Corinne!

The lovely face I get from Corinne when I ask her to smile!

Padilla Bay

Finally a good smile!

The stinkin' seagulls that scared me to death!

Stalker man that was watching us the entire time we were taking pictures and then he fell asleep, so we took pictures of him!

A creepy looking church that I saw when we were driving around.

The Great Green Bean Challenge 2009!

Yesterday we started running Green Beans at my work! Normally, myself and most of my co-workers do not enjoy Green Bean season. So, to help us get through it, we've decided to hold a little competition amongst ourselves: The Great Green Bean Challenge (or The G.G.B.C.).

For the green bean "taste test", we have to bite 50 beans in half to make sure it isn't stringy or hard to chew. For me, this is the worst part of green beans, and I usually try to get it done as fast as I can. That prompted my co-worker Maranda and I to come up with the G.G.B.C. We're going to time ourselves whenever we do our biting test to see how fast we can go, and we'll see who the winner is at the end of August. We're also inviting some people from other shifts to join in the fun. We haven't come up with a good prize yet, though!

Hopefully, a little healthy competition will help us endure these next few weeks of green beans!

Chelsea Miles: Vegetable Grader Extraordinaire

So, I have officially completed my first week back at Symons Frozen Foods as a Quality Assurance Person. And let me tell ya, nothing much has changed. I still am not the biggest fan of peas (as seen from the picture) but they at least are not as bad as green beans (oh man! I'm really not looking forward to green bean season).

Anyway, just to give you the low down on what I actually do, I get the oh so important job of taking samples of the product we are running (which as of right now is peas, but we also run corn, blueberries and lima beans--neither of which I have had the opportunity to work with--and of course the dreaded green bean) and grading them based on their color, defects, maturity, and whether or not they are cooked all the way. Oh, and let's not forget the taste test! Well, at least by the end of the summer, I'll have eaten so many veggies, that I'll be good for at least a year.

End of Freshman Year!

Thursday was my last day of my first year of college! It was a lot of fun, but also pretty challenging at the same time. Yesterday, I spent the entire day trying to figure out how to get home (since my car has decided to finally give out on me) and cleaning and packing. It will be nice to be on summer vacation!

Here is a photo of my roommates and I on the steps of our apartment complex.

What I did in school today...

In my humanities class today, we talked about how music can convey different emotions. This was the example that my teacher showed us!

Catchin' Up

Somebody, not to name any names, (*cough* Sheena *cough*) was kind enough to remind me that my blog hasn't been updated in a while, so here is a little bit of the more fun things I've been doing besides work and school.

This was on Superbowl Sunday. For some reason that I can't remember, Corinne went into the closet to hide, and her friend Steve enlisted the help of Matt, our FHE brother, to trap her in.

Last Saturday, when I woke up, this is how I found Corinne sleeping!

Sorry for the blurry picture, but this is what happens when you tell everyone to dogpile on Joyce as a joke. I haven't done dogpile's in a while, and I forgot that you don't want to be on the bottom, or close to the bottom for that matter, as I am second from the bottom. I don't think you can even see me in this picture.

And finally, we, as roommates, have all learned not to mess with Joyce, especially when there is food involved. Unfortunately, Steve never got the memo.

Other than that, my life has been pretty uneventful. We did go to the stagg valentines dance....and so did my stalker Mr. Collins (the guy who was my partner for the Freshman Orientation). I spent the entire dance trying to dodge him. Luckily, Corinne was very good at hiding me. We've decided that instead of my wing man, she's more like my wing repellant.

Just a little post...

This is mainly for Jacob because I know how you freak out when people don't update their blogs! I've been working hard and studying hard and don't really have time for much else except for on the weekends. Classes are going good. I'm really enjoying all of them. The roommates are good too. We've been up to our usual quirks. Oh, and I recently got a new calling in my new ward. I am a gospel doctrine teacher! I got to teach on Sunday and it went really well, and I only have to teach every other week. Luckily, we're learning about Doctrine and Covenants and Church History this year, so it's nothing too tough! Anyway, that's what's goin' on with me. And you're welcome Jacob!

Best Show Ever!

Tonight me and my new roomies and Corinne's friend Sarah went to Comedy Improv Night, which was done by Kirby Heyborne, Corbin Allred, Kelly Lohman, and Lincoln Hoppe. It was hilarious. We were all crying by the end of the show because we were laughing so hard! The best was at the last part that they did was a 30 min. improv musical, and near the end Lincoln pulled my roommate Stephanie up to the stage! At the end we got to take a picture with all of them and meet them. So much fun!!!!

Back in the Burg!

I got back to Rexburg last Saturday so that I could help with the freshman orientation. Little did I know that that consisted of me standing outside in the bitter cold for 2 1/2 hours with my partner Mr. Collins. Oh boy!

I moved into my new apartment! (Pictures to come soon). It is so much nicer than the dorms!

This semester is going to be a busy one. I'm working in the mornings at 4:00 cleaning one of the buildings on campus, and then I go to class right after that till about 2:00 in the afternoon! Whew! I'm going to be tired! Luckily, I've had training in working at odd hours from working the graveyard shift this last summer!

Sorry that this post is so bland. I promise that I'll take pictures soon of my new apartment and of all the snow!
